Kestrel Legend Shimano 105 Bicycle Review

Kestrel Legend Shimano 105

Kestrel has been known to come out with bikes that do more than perform, but to also do so in style. The Legend Shimano 105 doesn’t disappoint. Featuring the sleek new color pallet of matte carbon imbued with a vibrant red logo and detail work instantly makes this bike pop.

At a measly 780 grams, Kestrel has presented a bike ready to navigate through any scenario, be it for sport or speed or crit racing. Those long rides were considered when they included the horizontal to vertical brake mounts; this asymmetrical design gave our riders long-lasting comfort. You’ll also see other fantastic design decisions throughout the frame like the BB30 bottom bracket (for the ultimate lateral stiffness and swift transfer of power through the drivetrain), the carbon highlights all along the tubing and Kestrel EMS bladed forks, and the down tube. There’s an exceptional amount of compliance on the pedals without losing any of the power. Off-roading and wild rides are now a welcome sight.

It’s a versatile package, and one thought out with some of the most advanced technology around. If you know much about Kestrel, you know the amount of research and money they’ve invested in providing the bike riders are looking for. The fork has been created with a bladder and foam core; this provides the surefire stability and finesse that provides its durability that most wouldn’t believe by its weight. One ride will make them believers. This sophisticated moulding that can take the hits and gives you a fantastic grip and control. The Oval 9005 concepts wrap seat is comfortable and finds the sweet spot to make every ride enjoyable.

Key features of the Kestrel Legend Shimano 105:

  • Vittoria Zaffiro Pro Slick, 700 X 23c Tires
  • KMC X10 Chain
  • Tektro Dual Pivot Brakes
  • Kestrel Suede Bar Tape
  • Comes 98% assembled

Pros:

  • Fast assembly.
  • It's lightweight casts the illusion of frailty, but it's as sturdy as they come.
  • Low-priced in comparison to others like it.

Cons:

  • Certain sites I have found ship the bike with more assembly required than expected.

Opinions

What does this mean overall? After some time with the bike, you’ll find that the tires will roll fast and smooth for a long time, even after the wear and tear of your terrain. There’s much less jarring than most bikes, leaving you without that tension and ache that would otherwise be there after hitting some trails. It cuts through wind and gives you the sensation of gliding on those long stretches. The features as a whole offers a stiffness you need, but surprises you with one of the best rides your money can buy at this price range. This is achieved from the different sizes of the tubes used on the frame, making a consistent level of stiffness throughout without sacrificing the comfort.

After doing some searching, there was a handful of reviews regarding the bike, all of which spoke highly. It became difficult to purposefully find any flaws with the actual bike once it was assembled. It is hitting all of the right notes; from its advanced technology and versatility, to its attention to every detail with passion; every rider review left us baffled at how consistently it achieved satisfaction. On that note, for the price and the bike that comes with it, you could say you'll be riding into Legend with this bike.
